Stow Film Lounge presents a special screening at the William Morris Gallery to coincide with the exhibition Social Fabric. African Textiles Today.
This Oscar-winning Best Foreign Language Film, based on a novel by Athol Fugard, is set in Johannesburg and tells the story of a small time criminal, Tsotsi, who is a teenager without feeling, hardened by his tough life. After a series of violent gang hits, Tsotsi hijacks a car. However, whilst driving, Tsotsi finds that there is a baby on the back seat. He brings the baby to his house in the slum. The next six days bring about a change in him that couldn’t be foreseen.
Refreshments available from the Gallery Tea Room. Doors open at 7pm for a chance to view the exhibition before the film begins.
