“Day and Night” was commissioned for the Magpie and Stump House, 37 Cheyne Walk, Chelsea, London, built by C.R. Ashbee in 1893-94 for his mother. Whall’s window was in the centre of the second-story oriel. The house was demolished in 1968, when the glass was probably destroyed.
