"A fantastic course. I’ve taken so many great ideas which I can’t wait to do with the children."
Teacher, Henry Maynard School
For art co-ordinators, teachers and support staff – no art experience needed!
This course is designed to support implementation of two key aspects of the new Art & Design curriculum – the creation of sketchbooks in which pupils can record, review and revisit ideas and working towards the mastery of art and design techniques with a range of media.
Understanding the pressure on time and resources, we will be running our popular arts CPD courses as two- part twilight sessions. These courses offer both primary art co-ordinators and non-specialist primary staff an in-depth opportunity to develop new practical skills. There will be a strong emphasis on practical classroom management of activities and materials
Participants will learn how to use sketchbooks by exploring pupils’ and artists’ examples and by creating a sketchbook for themselves throughout the day based on an ‘Inspired by nature’ mini project. Participants will trial a number of fun, simple drawing warm-ups that build observational skills and confidence and will learn strategies which can be used with pupils.
Participants will gain experience of a wide range of drawing materials: different grades of pencils, graphite sticks, pen and ink, pastels, charcoal, and chalk.
All materials and tea/coffee included
