For Museums at Night the William Morris Gallery presents a night of poetry, discussion and music inspired by William Morris's travels in Iceland.
Writer and poet Lavinia Greenlaw will read from her critically acclaimed book 'Questions of Travel: William Morris in Iceland' and discuss what Morris's Icelandic journals can tell us about the nature of travel. There will also be a live performance from Icelandic folk singer Ösp Eldjárn, whose soaring melody-led songs bring a contemporary songwriting approach to the musical heritage of her homeland.
Visitors can view the Gallery’s Iceland display – featuring souvenirs Morris brought back from his trips - and explore its landmark exhibition on May Morris, William’s daughter, who shared her father’s passion for Iceland.
Event starts 8pm. Doors open 7pm to view the exhibition and gallery displays. Curated with Vine Collective/Third Nature.
