Chrysanthemum wallpaper design (1877)
Chrysanthemum is an intricate wallpaper design of pom-pom blooms and calligraphic foliage, underpinned by a subtle geometry. The lower portion of the drawing reveals how William Morris drew in pencil over a grid before adding watercolour, facilitating the repetition and transfer of elements by hand within the design.
