Morris and the Amateur Craftsman

  • 23 November 2013
  • 10:00 - 17:00
  • Free. Drop-in, no booking necessary.

For a one-off special event, artist in residence Lizzie Hughes invites amateur craftspeople from Waltham Forest to bring their creations to the Gallery. It could be clothing, textiles, wood or metal work – anything that you’ve made yourself.

Completely free and no booking necessary - just drop by during the day.

What will happen?

Your work will be photographed and included in a presentation of the Walthamstow community’s unique creative skills that will evolve throughout the day. As well as contributing to the installation, you’ll have the opportunity to meet Lizzie, ask questions about her project and meet other amateur craftspeople over a cup of tea.

Who can attend?

The event is open to anyone who makes things by hand, but doesn't currently do so professionally. It could be knitting, sewing, crocheting, quilting, pottery, carpentry, wood turning, paper craft, cross-stitch, jewellery, leather work, cake decoration, embroidery, weaving, quilling, calligraphy ... If you define what you do as a craft then so will we.
