Education Private View for Jeremy Deller's English Magic Exhibition

English Magic is a politically-charged exhibition reflecting the roots of much of Deller’s work focusing on British society. It includes people, icons, myths, folklore and cultural and political history; addressing events from the past, present and an imagined future. The exhibition will be of interest to English and Citizenship  teachers as well to Art & Design  teachers for the way it promotes debate about identity and democratic values.

The evening will include guided tours of the exhibition and the Morris displays plus a taster session of the “Makes you think!” workshops for schools. There will also be artists’ demonstrations linking to the regular schools workshop programme in the upstairs studio featuring relief printing, patternmaking and weaving. Free resources will be available to take home and an English Magic online resource for teachers and group leaders will be available to download from 23 January.
